Berrett Pest Control

Yes. In Texas, commercial pesticide application is regulated by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA); companies that apply pesticides for pay must employ licensed applicators and follow TDA rules. When hiring, ask to see the applicator’s license number, verify the company’s registration, and confirm they carry liability insurance and follow label directions and state regulations.

Frequency depends on the pest, the severity of the infestation, and your property’s vulnerability. Because Houston’s warm, humid climate encourages year‑round activity for ants, roaches, mosquitoes and rodents, many homeowners use monthly or quarterly general‑pest programs and more frequent treatments for mosquitoes or active infestations. Ask the provider for an inspection‑based plan, what follow‑up visits are included, and what preventive measures (sealing entry points, moisture control) they recommend.

Safety depends on the product used and whether label instructions are followed. Licensed applicators are required to apply pesticides according to the label and to provide safety information; ask for product names, safety data sheets, and specific precautions (reentry intervals, ventilation, pet restrictions). Many companies offer low‑toxicity options (baits, traps, targeted treatments) and will schedule or isolate treatments to reduce exposure—alert the provider if you have infants, pregnant people, pets, or sensitive landscaping so they can recommend safer approaches.
