Bug State Pest Control Inc

In Texas, structural pest control applicators must be licensed by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), so ask to see the company’s TDA applicator or business license and confirm their license number. Also verify they carry general liability insurance and workers’ compensation (if they have employees). Ask for written estimates, an explanation of the proposed treatments and active ingredients, safety data sheets or product labels, and any service or re‑treatment guarantees. Check online reviews and ask for local references to confirm experience with Houston’s specific pest challenges.

Houston’s hot, humid climate favors subterranean termites, ants, cockroaches, mosquitoes, fleas, ticks and rodents. Treatment and frequency depend on the pest and severity: general perimeter pest control is often performed monthly or quarterly; mosquito programs are typically monthly during warm months; rodent control may require ongoing monitoring and exclusion work; termite control can include baiting, liquid soil treatments or, for drywood infestations, localized or whole‑structure treatments plus regular inspections. A technician should identify the species, explain treatment options, and recommend a service schedule based on infestation level and property conditions.

Licensed applicators are required to follow EPA‑approved product labels and TDA rules; many treatments are safe when applied by professionals and when label precautions are followed. Safety depends on the product and application method, so ask the company about re‑entry times and any temporary restrictions. Typical preparation includes securing or removing pet food and water bowls, covering aquariums, picking up toys and linens, storing exposed food, and trimming vegetation away from foundation for exterior treatments. For fumigation or tenting (used in some drywood termite jobs) you and pets must vacate for the required period and follow the provider’s written instructions.
