Hathuc Home & Commercial Services - Pest control

In Texas, pest control applicators and companies operate under the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) rules; ask the company for the applicator’s TDA license number and the business registration. Also request proof of insurance, a written estimate or service agreement that lists targeted pests and treatments, and references or online reviews. Legitimate providers follow pesticide label directions and use EPA‑registered products—if you have concerns you can confirm licensing or file a complaint with TDA.

Most professional treatments use EPA‑registered products applied according to label directions to minimize risk; technicians should give you pre‑ and post‑treatment instructions (for example, how long to vacate an area or when to keep pets away). In Houston’s climate many companies also use integrated pest management (IPM) practices—sanitation, exclusion, habitat reduction—to lower chemical use. If you or household members have chemical sensitivities, or you have young children or pets, tell the provider so they can recommend alternatives and explain re‑entry times and ventilation steps.

Frequency depends on the pest and property conditions: routine general pest plans are commonly monthly or quarterly, heavier infestations or mosquito programs may require more frequent visits, and rodent work often needs follow‑up until activity stops. Termites are a separate issue in the Houston/Gulf Coast area (including subterranean and Formosan pressure in some neighborhoods); annual termite inspections are recommended and treatments (bait systems or liquid barriers) must be performed by licensed termite applicators. Ask the company for a written service schedule, what follow‑up visits are included, and the inspection/treatment terms—termite damage is typically not covered by standard homeowners insurance, so get inspection records in writing.
