Houston Pest Control

A technician should perform a thorough interior and exterior inspection, identify the pest species, entry points, moisture or sanitation issues, and any conducive conditions common in Houston's hot, humid climate (mosquito breeding sites, cockroach harborage, termites). Expect a written estimate or treatment plan that lists target pests, methods (baits, sprays, exclusion, traps, IPM steps), frequency, pricing, safety precautions and follow-up policy. Ask to see the company's Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) applicator license number and proof of insurance, and confirm whether termite work requires a separate licensed service.

Licensed applicators must follow pesticide label directions and use products appropriate for the situation; safety depends on the active ingredients and method. Ask for product names or active ingredients and the Safety Data Sheet (SDS), request low‑tox or non‑chemical options if preferred, and follow applicator instructions (ventilate treated areas, keep children and pets away until surfaces are dry, cover food and aquariums). Notify the company of infants, pregnant household members, severe allergies, or indoor pets so they can adjust the plan.

Service frequency depends on the pest, property conditions and season — in Houston many companies offer monthly or quarterly general pest programs, more frequent visits for heavy infestations, and specialized contracts for termites or mosquitoes. Get the guarantee in writing: it should state what re‑treatments are included, time limits, and exclusions (for example, structural repairs or sanitation issues the homeowner must address). Also ask about monitoring, prevention recommendations (sealing gaps, moisture control, removing standing water), and whether seasonal adjustments are part of the agreement.
