Long Point Pest Control

In Texas, commercial pesticide applicators and structural pest control operators must be licensed through the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). Ask the company for its TDA license number and the names/license numbers of the applicators who will work at your home, and verify those on the TDA website or by calling TDA. Also request proof of general liability insurance and workers’ compensation or a certificate of uninsured employer status. A reputable contractor will provide a written estimate, a treatment plan listing the EPA‑registered products to be used (including active ingredients), and a clear service agreement before work begins.

Expect a technician to start with an inspection and then explain the targeted treatment plan—Houston’s humid, subtropical climate supports year‑round pests (mosquitoes, ants, cockroaches, rodents, termites, fleas, bed bugs), so the approach often combines sanitation, exclusion, and targeted pesticide applications. Preparation usually includes picking up toys and pet dishes, covering or removing plants and aquarium filters, securing or removing pet and fish tanks, and following any specific instructions the contractor gives (for example, staying out of treated areas for a short re‑entry period). The company should provide safety instructions and let you know re‑entry times, any surfaces to avoid, and whether bedding or food needs special handling.

Service frequency depends on the pest, infestation severity, property size, and treatment method. Many homeowners use monthly to quarterly service plans for general perimeter pest control and more frequent visits for mosquito programs; termite control typically involves a one‑time soil treatment or baiting system with annual inspections and written contract terms. Ask the contractor for a written service agreement that describes scope, schedule, what is included (interior vs. exterior), the re‑treatment policy for recurring problems, and any warranty or guarantee details. Expect most companies to offer free or discounted re‑treatments for ongoing infestations within the contract period, but get the conditions in writing before hiring.
