Naturalcare Pest Control

In Texas pest control operators and applicators are regulated by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). Ask the company for their TDA license or applicator numbers and confirm that any technicians working on your property are licensed or working under a licensed applicator. Also request proof of general liability insurance and workers' compensation (or confirmation that technicians are covered) so you aren’t liable for accidents. A reputable company should also provide a written estimate, a copy of the pesticide product labels or EPA registration numbers they plan to use, and safety data sheets (SDS) on request.

Houston’s hot, humid climate encourages year‑round activity for many pests. Common problems include mosquitoes, subterranean and drywood termites, fire ants, roaches (including American/palmetto bugs), rodents, fleas/ticks, and occasional bed bugs. Warm, wet conditions increase breeding and can shorten the effectiveness of some treatments, so integrated pest management (IPM) approaches—combining exclusion (sealing entry points), moisture control, habitat reduction, sanitation, and targeted pesticide use—are most effective. Some pests have seasonal peaks (mosquitoes and fleas worse in spring/summer; termite swarmers often in spring), so timing treatments and routine maintenance visits matters for long‑term control.

Contractors should tell you what products they plan to use, provide product labels or EPA registration numbers, and explain any re‑entry intervals or restrictions. Follow the applicator’s instructions for covering fish tanks, removing pet food or birdseed, keeping children and pets away from treated areas until it’s safe, and ventilating indoor spaces if instructed. If you want lower‑toxicity or non‑chemical options, ask what they offer and understand these may require more frequent visits. Also get any retreatment/guarantee terms in writing so you know what’s covered and the timeframe for follow ups.
